So much has changed since we first released the Simple Booth Event Edition app in 2013. Here we are eleven years later, but in many ways 2024 was just as exciting and transformative as the year we started.

The photo booth industry is growing

We are seeing the photo booth industry develop more and more. Not only are group pictures, selfies, and video clips as popular as ever, but the types of photo experiences offered at events continue to broaden and diversify.

The biggest trends we saw in 2024:

  1. 360 photo booths didn’t lose any momentum
  2. AI photo booths started popping up everywhere
  3. More locations embraced permanent photo booths

This is great news for entrepreneurs looking to start a photo booth business, as well as venues seeking a permanent photo experience for daily visitors and special events. With more opportunities to differentiate from competitors, businesses can offer unique services at profitable price points that appeal to a wide range of customers.

Considering that virtual photo booths were a brand new concept in just 2020, the continued expansion of the industry in all directions is quite remarkable.

Simple Booth continues to evolve

This year we released over 25 updates to the HALO app, including some big new features.

We kicked off this year with the launch of the new API integration for captured leads. This game-changing feature makes it easier than ever for businesses to grow their marketing lists and stay connected with photo booth participants.

In February, we rolled out multiple overlays, a highly requested feature that lets participants choose from a selection of designs to go over their photo. This opens the door to endless creative possibilities for both event hosts and participants.

The fun kept rolling through the summer. Our team took a moment to embrace the glam life, adding features like a glam filter for that flawless finish and new tools to simplify on-device editing management.

But 2024 wouldn’t be complete without diving into AI, so we introduced an AI-powered virtual background replacement. Say goodbye to green screens and hello to seamless, professional backgrounds—it’s a win-win for everyone.

For the details, check out our HALO 4 Release announcement, where we break it all down.

And then just before the holidays got in full swing, we introduced weekly plans starting at just $9 per week, making HALO software more accessible and flexible than ever before. Whether you’re in events, hospitality, retail, or any other industry, our goal is to provide solutions that you can use all year round.

We focused on our customers

2024 was about more than adding cool new features—our favorite part was taking the time to connect with you—our incredible customers.

We enjoyed reading the amazing feedback from customers (along with valuable constructive criticism we truly appreciate!). Hearing directly from you helps us improve and ensure we’re building tools that truly meet your needs.

But we wanted to dive deeper and really find out what HALO really meant to our customers. So our team conducted extensive customer interviews and published nine case studies highlighting how real businesses deploy HALO in creative and impactful ways. Many of these businesses have captured hundreds of thousands of photos and raved about the difference it made.

From a trip to the vibrant streets of New Orleans to learn how Creole Cuisine is spicing up marketing efforts, to a visit to Nashville where Ole Red is bringing the country lifestyle and photo booths together, we’ve been blown away by the stories of how HALO works for these amazing brands.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

This year, HALO has made its mark across a variety of industries.

We’ve seen it add a touch of elegance to the opera, bring excitement to sports arenas, amplify the electric vibes of the music industry, and charm mini-golf enthusiasts across the pond.

HALO has also shined in the event services industry, helping companies like Amore Entertainment and Just Call Malik earn six figures in revenue and capture countless memorable moments for clients.

We are so proud of what our customers have achieved, to be able to tell such captivating stories, and the part we get to play in them.

Bring on 2025

We can’t wait to carry this energy into 2025, and we have some exciting projects in the pipeline. Stay tuned for details on some major product announcements in the new year!

It’s been amazing to see how HALO owners use the hardware and app to elevate their businesses and create unforgettable experiences. Your creativity and business savvy continue to inspire us.

As a result of all the great things happening, we grew our team by almost 50% in 2024. New folks joined us and roles were filled in sale, engineering, and marketing. It’s been great to see how fresh perspectives and talents are helping us push boundaries and make new things possible.

Here’s to an incredible 2024 and an even brighter year ahead. From all of us at Simple Booth, thank you for being part of our journey.

Let’s make 2025 the best year yet!

AI-Powered Virtual Background Replacement & More in HALO 4 Release https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/ai-powered-virtual-background-replacement-and-more-in-halo-4-release/ Tue, 12 Nov 2024 08:00:00 +0000 https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/?p=7936 For years, green screens have been the go-to for creating immersive photo experiences, instantly transporting guests to new worlds with a simple step in front of the backdrop.

But that vibrant green backdrop? It doesn’t exactly “blend in” at most venues or events.

Then there is the classic problem that anyone wearing green will mysteriously “disappear,” making green screens almost unusable for events like St. Patrick’s Day or Green Bay Packers games.

Finally, there’s a better way.

Introducing Virtual Background Replacement

Now, you can get all the benefits of a green screen with no screen at all!

Our newly updated HALO photo booth app (version 4) lets you magically teleport guests to a tropical beach, a famous city skyline, or a custom-branded scene that brings your creative vision to life—all without the hassle of buying, transporting, or setting up a physical backdrop.

Virtual background replacement in action

In a little bit, we’ll give a quick rundown of how it works, along with some tips and tricks to help you pull off an unforgettable activation.

But that’s not all…

In addition to the new Virtual Background Replacement feature, we’re happy to share a ton of major improvements to the HALO 4 app, including:

  • Fast App Launch: The app now loads presets and in priority order, so you’ll access your presets list more quickly, with the most recently updated presets loading first.
  • Refreshed Design: The app’s overall style has been revamped for a more consistent and modern feel, especially in the settings.
  • Improved Ease-of-Use: We’ve redesigned screens for selecting props, creating presets, editing galleries, and more to enhance usability and make the experience more visually appealing.
  • Data Capture on Preflight: A new status item on the preflight screen will alert you if there are data capture settings issues, like having data capture turned on without any fields enabled, or vice versa.
  • Preset and Gallery Info in Mission Control: You can now see current preset and gallery names in Mission Control, along with a button to sync the latest updates from the backend.

As you can see, our team has been focused on making HALO the most reliable and user-friendly photo booth app available, all with you in mind. These improvements are designed to enhance your experience and make every photo opportunity seamless.

These updates are part of a series of major feature releases we’ve rolled out in 2024, including:

With all the recent improvements, there’s never been a better time to try Simple Booth or run it again with fresh options.

Now, back to the most exciting new feature of them all: virtual background replacement.

How Virtual Background Replacement Works

Virtual Background Replacement is now available on the Core plan and up to use at your event or venue.

To get started, head to the online dashboard to customize your preset settings for your next photo experience.

Presets page on the online dashboard

After opening up the preset you plan to customize, it’s time to dive into the design process.

Scroll to the Background Replacement panel, check the box to enable it, and make sure to select “Virtual” for the method.

Background Replacement panel in the preset settings on the online dashboard

Next, you’ll need some background images to upload, which is where the fun begins!

Finding the best background images

The background image is a key element in your overall design, and there are many creative directions you can explore.

There are many ways to find great backgrounds, whether by licensing images from stock photo websites, finding free open-source images on platforms like Shutterstock or Unsplash, or even creating unique images using AI prompts with tools like Canva or DreamStudio.

The best background images will also fit in with your stylistic choices for overlays and other branding.

Virtual background replacement paired with multiple overlays

It’s important to select a background image that complements your image orientation, whether it’s portrait, landscape, or square. This will depend on your iPad’s orientation and whether you choose the square crop mode.

For optimal results, we recommend the following sizes. For additional guidance, visit our Background Replacement Guide.

iPad OrientationBackground Image Size in Pixels
Portrait960×1280
Landscape1280×960
Square Crop960×960
Recommended sizes for background images

One vs multiple background choices

If you upload a single background image, it will automatically apply to each photo taken. But if you add multiple background images, guests can choose their own background before they take their photo, adding a more personal touch to their experience.

You can upload up to 50 background images, allowing plenty of room for creative possibilities. However, it’s best practice to choose 10 or fewer images if possible. This offers variety for an engaging experience without overwhelming the participant with choices.

By default, guests choose their background image before taking their photo, so that they can see a live preview and pose or interact with the background. You can also allow guests to choose a different background after taking their photo by enabling the “Background Replacement” feature in the “Editing Tools” panel, allowing them to see their background alongside all your other design elements.

Background Replacement editing tool in HALO app

Once you’ve uploaded your background images, you can test them with your other photo design elements to ensure everything feels cohesive. Open the HALO app on your iPad, launch your preset, and tap the start screen to launch the photo booth.

Try Live Feed to show it off

To create a truly immersive experience, consider pairing Virtual Backgrounds with our Live Feed feature, which projects photos in real-time using a projector, TV screen, or even your website. Many of our customers have found this combination to be an effective way to boost engagement and showcase their creativity during their event or at their venue.

Creating an immersive experience not only builds excitement during the event but also encourages guests to share their moments with friends and family on social media. This social sharing generates valuable user-generated content (UGC) that you can leverage for marketing—just be sure to follow all local regulations and best practices when handling user data.

For added control, on the Pro plan and up, you can use the Data Capture feature to include an opt-in for social sharing permissions. Guests on any plan can also choose to mark their photos as private (if the gallery isn’t already private), giving them control over their individual privacy. This way, they can fully enjoy the experience while feeling confident about how their images are shared.

Future Improvements

We’re excited about how these updates will enhance your HALO app experience and unlock new creative possibilities. The new virtual background replacement feature is designed to make event setups smoother and help you create even more immersive experiences for your guests.

Remember, the HALO 4 update brings many other improvements, including faster app launch, a refreshed design, and more intuitive screens for selecting props, creating presets, and editing galleries. You’ll also benefit from data capture alerts and better preset management in Mission Control, making the entire experience more streamlined and efficient.

As always, we’d love to hear how these updates are working for you and any suggestions you have for future improvements. Feel free to reach out to us anytime at halo@simplebooth.com.

A quick note: For events like pictures with Santa, we don’t recommend using the virtual background replacement feature. The software may interpret parts of costumes or outfits as background elements, leading to unexpected results. Instead, we suggest using a green screen or no background replacement for the best photo outcomes.

New On-Device Editing Option Helps Deploy Multiple Photo Booths https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/on-device-editing-option-helps-deploy-multiple-photo-booths/ Tue, 17 Sep 2024 13:57:43 +0000 https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/?p=7674 At Simple Booth, we’ve helped teams of all sizes effectively scale photo marketing campaigns using our platform. One thing we’ve learned: sometimes it’s the small details that make all the difference.

That’s why today we’re excited to announce a new feature that makes it easier than ever to manage multiple activations or locations remotely.

Ease-of-use meets access control

When you first launch Simple Booth HALO®, you have the option to create and edit presets from either the web dashboard, on the iPad, or both. Making changes from the iPad is convenient when Wi-fi is unreliable or you are on-site and need to make last-minute changes.

But other times, it’s critical to lock down your devices because you’ve already configured the settings perfectly from the web dashboard

Editing event settings remotely from the web dashboard

For example, branding may have been pre-approved by a client, there could be a brand ambassador who is only supposed to launch the booth and not change or create new settings, or it’s a permanent installation (such as at a restaurant, bar, or venue).

In all these situations, it’s vital to have assurance that your settings won’t be changed on-site.

Now, peace of mind is as easy as the press of a checkbox.

On-device editing

With the new “Allow On-device Editing” checkbox available on the web dashboard, you can seamlessly limit access from devices in the field with a checkbox in your account settings.

The box is checked by default, which allows editing across all your devices in the field.

By unchecking this box, your marketing team will maintain full control over the settings on the web dashboard, while the on-site team will have a predefined list of presets to choose from. This simple change helps minimize errors and keep your activations on track.

Tip: At the same time, you may want to update your “Default Gallery Privacy Level” setting. This will help ensure that new galleries are created with the intended gallery privacy level.

The new setting is available to all users with web dashboard access (included in all HALO plans).

Next steps for large organizations

Disabling on-device editing is useful for any account that needs to limit on-site access. If you need even more control over which presets to launch, we have a solution that involves separate accounts linked together for full control over permissions.

For personalized advice on setting your account up for success, please reach out to our team using the form below.

Let’s Talk

We’re committed to helping your team succeed, whether you’re new to Simple Booth or a seasoned user, and regardless of your team size.

Glam Photo Booth: Fresh Filter For a Flawless Look https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/glam-photo-booth-filter-flawless-look/ Thu, 08 Aug 2024 16:15:46 +0000 https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/?p=7568 Everyone loves a good photo 📸

But in a world of social media influencers, anti-aging serums, and the ability to delete embarrassing photos with a click (where was this in the ’90s?), the bar for photo quality has never been higher.

What if you could capture the perfect moment and achieve that flawless, sought-after look?

Imagine air-brushed quality with creases erased and imperfections smoothed out… While soft, high-quality lighting (like our HALO’s luminescent ring light) plays a crucial role, there was still something missing—until now.

Introducing Glam

With the new Glam photo booth filter, achieving flawlessly smooth and radiant skin in every photo is effortless and instantaneous, no matter your skin tone or type.

Our Glam filter delicately smooths the skin while preserving the real you—keeping critical details and sharpness in other places like the hair and eyes.

Whether guests are walking the red carpet, celebrating at a wedding, or just dressing up for a special occasion, Glam has you covered.

It gets even better: you can combine the Glam filter with other Simple Booth effects, like a black and white photo filter, to create truly stunning visuals.

Glam seamlessly integrates with all our editing tools, filters, and layouts including still photos, GIFs, and Live GIFs. The possibilities with Glam are endless!

As the photo booth owner, you can set a default Glam level for all photos or let your guests adjust it themselves. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Guests can edit the Glam intensity when the photo editing tool is enabled

For deeper skin tones or if you’re looking to amplify the Glam effect, try our “Glam-more” filter variation. It enhances radiance and smooths imperfections, providing an extra boost of Glam for every photo.

Go Glam

Looking this good isn’t just for social media influencers, the Kardashians, or Madonna fans anymore. With Glam now available in all Simple Booth plans and in the HALO app, everyone can enjoy that polished, photo-ready look!

More Overlays = More Fun! Introducing Multiple Overlays https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/more-overlays-more-fun-introducing-multiple-overlays/ Mon, 12 Feb 2024 17:44:08 +0000 https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/?p=7111 Today, we are excited to announce that Simple Booth HALO® now supports multiple overlays.

An overlay is like a watermark or frame that goes on top of every photo, video, or GIF captured. It gives pictures a unique photo booth vibe that’s completely customized to your brand or event theme.

Before today, you could always add a single overlay in HALO.

Now, you can have up to 20!

Three photos with three different overlays

Multiple photo booth overlays has been a highly requested feature and has a lot of potential use cases, for example:

  • At a sporting event, offer an overlay for each competing team. Fans will love it!
  • Instead of an overwhelming logo cloud for all the sponsors at an event, you could create a custom overlay for each sponsor.
  • Imagine you are a non-profit that supports multiple causes — you could create a unique overlay for each cause as a way for event attendees to show their support for the cause they are most passionate about.
  • At a wedding, you could get creative with Team Bride vs Team Groom overlays.
  • Simply offer overlays in different color options or styles to appeal to more people!

How it works

To start using multiple overlays, you need to be on the Core plan or higher.

First, open or create your HALO preset on the web dashboard and scroll down to the Photo Design panel. You can upload overlays from the iPad app too, but it’s easier for most people from their computer.

After deciding on your media type, layout, crop/orientation, and whether you want to include margins, you will find a section that says “Manage Overlays.”

The Photo Design panel on the web with multiple overlays

Click the button and begin to upload your overlays.

Drag and drop up to 20 overlays per Preset

Make sure your overlays are PNG with transparent backgrounds, so that the picture will be visible through them, and that they match the recommended size listed under the overlays section. For more information on designing overlay graphics, read our overlay creation guide.

You can also drag and drop to rearrange the order of your overlays — the first overlay is the one that will be seen the most.

When you launch the booth, photo booth participants can swipe to choose which overlay to apply for each photo session.

The new Choose Overlay screen appears after the participant taps the screen or after the Choose Layout screen if “Participants choose layout” is enabled in your Photo Design panel. Then, the selected overlay can be displayed during the photo capture (aka countdown) if “Show overlay during capture” is on.

The new multiple overlays feature is available in the Core, Plus, Pro, and Select plans starting today.

Time to get creative!

Multiple overlays are a great tool to give participants more control over their photos and make them more personalized. Having diverse options will make your event more exciting and your galleries more visually impactful.

Make sure to tag @simplebooth on Instagram or Facebook and share with us how you’re using multiple overlays!

Introducing New API Integration for Data Capture https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/introducing-new-api-integration-for-data-capture/ Fri, 05 Jan 2024 15:43:20 +0000 https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/?p=7095 At Simple Booth, we just released a new API integration feature that works seamlessly with our data capture feature to collect first-party data from participants and deliver it to your server, database, or CRM for marketing purposes.

How Data Capture Works

Data capture turns your photo booth into a lead magnet with a stunning 89% opt-in rate. It’s ideal for engaging patrons in retail spaces, at events, and more.

With HALO, participants always walk away with a smile on their face and a branded photo, GIF, or video that’s easy to share. When data capture is enabled, they can also join your marketing list on the spot by providing their information.

The HALO app can capture first name, last name, email address, phone number, birth date, postal code, and custom inputs. Customers can also embed a custom Terms of Service and Privacy Policy into the form and provide an explicit opt-in checkbox to obtain any necessary consents.

The information from the data capture form is also used to deliver the photo conveniently to the participant, creating a win-win. In many common interactions, customers may be wary of providing their contact details directly, but in the context of a trusted photo booth experience, it’s easy.

First-party data is more valuable than ever for brands that rely on it for marketing activities, including email marketing, SMS marketing, retargeting through online advertising, creating lookalike audiences, and more.

How the API Integration Works

When paired with our new API integration, Simple Booth customers can directly sync captured data into their own database or CRM systems. This makes it seamless to create automations and marketing flows. For example, as soon as a participant takes a photo and submits their information, a business can use their marketing systems to instantly send a special offer, request a Google review, or add them to a mailing list.

Note: Consuming data from an API generally requires a developer or technical team to write code.

In addition to syncing information securely to your marketing platform, you can subsequently purge personally identifiable information (PII) from Simple Booth. This can provide your IT security team with peace of mind that the PII is removed from our system after it is no longer needed there.

With these new capabilities, Simple Booth continues to lead the photo booth industry in innovative solutions for event marketing.

There’s never been a better time to implement photo marketing into your event or experiential marketing strategy.

Data Capture and API Integration are both available in Pro and Select plans.

The documentation for the API can be found here.

HALO App Update: Choose Layout, Privacy Features, & More (2023) https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/2023-halo-app-release-choose-layout-privacy-features-more/ Wed, 22 Mar 2023 18:24:45 +0000 https://www.simplebooth.com/blog/?p=6754 We’re beyond excited to announce that the new and improved HALO app is now live on the App Store! This update takes the photo booth experience to new heights.

TLDR: Watch the video:

Choose your photo booth adventure

First and foremost, we’ve added the most highly requested feature of all time: the ability to select a layout before taking pictures.

With the check of a box, you can let participants choose from GIF, Live GIF, Rebound, or single photo—without the need for additional graphics or branding on your end.

Introducing the Choose Layout screen:

Choose layout screen in HALO app
Participants can choose between Rebound, Live GIF or regular GIF, and still photo at the start.

Privacy matters: empower users

Just as users enjoy the freedom to choose their preferred layout, having control over their privacy is equally crucial. That’s why we’re introducing a new privacy feature that allows participants to decide which images they want to display in the gallery:

Gallery opt-in screen in HALO app
The gallery opt-in screen puts privacy in the hands of photo booth participants

This screen automatically appears when your gallery privacy is set to public or unlisted. Our Help Center has more information about gallery privacy settings.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what happens in each scenario on this screen:

  • Opt in: When the user presses “Yes, include it,” their photo will appear with other public photos in the gallery, Live Feed, your user profile, or the new start screen slideshow (more on that below).
  • Opt out: The photo won’t appear in the gallery alongside other photos, but they can still receive it by any send options you have enabled such as text, email, or QR. The participant receives a private link that allows them to share the photo or video to Facebook, Instagram, and other social channels—just like normal. It simply won’t appear in the other areas.

Private photos are still visible to the photo booth owner when logged in on the dashboard. You can export them with the other gallery images from the dashboard, too.

So far, we’ve seen 87% of participants opt in, indicating that most people are comfortable with their photos being included in public galleries. Meanwhile, those who prefer more privacy can feel safe knowing that they are in control of where their photo is viewed and shared.

Keep Up with Today’s Privacy Demands

Privacy has become increasingly important for businesses.

Consumers are more savvy than ever and expect a high level of control over their personal data. With the constantly evolving privacy regulations worldwide, it’s crucial for businesses to stay compliant and demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding customer information. The new privacy feature helps businesses achieve this by giving individual users more control over their images.

Grab attention from the start

The default Start Screen now intelligently switches between a slideshow of public gallery photos and “Tap to start” as a guest approaches. This powerful feature engages participants before they even interact with the booth and shows them what kind of fun photos or videos they can expect to take.

Start screen transitioning to and from slideshow
The dynamic start screen transitions from a waterfall of images to tap to start instructions as a guest approaches.

The privacy feature enhances this innovation by identifying which photos have been opted in for public display, ensuring that only approved images are shown on the HALO slideshow.

Striking new light and dark themes

We’ve preserved the core essence that makes HALO special while refreshing and enhancing everything around it. As a result, we’re excited to introduce new light and dark booth themes that improve contrast and clarity. These themes enhance visual accessibility for all users, ensuring a crystal clear, user-friendly experience.

Light and dark themes in HALO app
Left side: dark theme. Right side: light theme.

The new light and dark styles enhance the photo booth experience for all users by focusing on visual accessibility. With better color contrast, easy-to-read fonts, and larger buttons, the new app can better serve people of varying levels of eyesight, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

Faster, better, smoother, fun-er

In addition to these major updates, we’ve made hundreds of other improvements for an enhanced user experience.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Photos now upload sooner, providing guests with a feeling of instant gratification.
  • The data capture form can be submitted multiple times, allowing marketers to capture contact information from multiple people in a single photo session.
  • We’ve added a “Thank you for participating” screen, offering a seamless transition for the next users.
  • A new Mission Control feature that replaces the Booth Status screen, simplifying camera and settings adjustments during events.
  • It’s easier to get your photo by scanning a QR code than ever. We’ve moved the QR code to front-and-center on the Send Screen so any participants can scan it without pressing any extra buttons.

We’re delighted to bring you the most advanced photo booth experience yet. Download this incredible release from the App Store now and get ready to elevate your events, increase customer engagement, and capture valuable marketing contacts with ease.

It’s a live display of photos being captured and shared with your branded slides mixed in.

Cutting edge restaurant groups like Creole Cuisine use Live Feed near HALO in their concepts to delight customers, drive engagement with the photo booth, promote events, and upsell products.

When people see others having fun on the Live Feed, they naturally want to join in and share pictures too. It’s the ultimate social, interactive content to take your digital signage to the next level.

More photos = more shares 🙌

The result is a more lively, energetic atmosphere with more people taking photos. More photos means more shares, which amplifies all of the effort you’ve put into creating an Instagrammable experience in the first place.

At Simple Booth, we know how important it is to have a world-class customer experience. That’s why we created Live Feed and we use it ourselves all the time, including when we threw the mother of all parties after the Photo Booth Expo in Vegas.

Live Feed is simple, yet powerful ⚡

You can customize Live Feed to be perfect for your event and then start it up with the press of a button.

With settings to control animations, transition timing, number of photos, and layout, you can create an eye-catching slideshow that’s easy use.

Digital signage that works for your brand 📈

You can mix-and-match your own images and videos as ads for Live Feed to loop through in-between sets of photos. This is another way you can promote your business, non-profit, or event sponsors through the Simple Booth platform.

Remember that picture of Live Feed at the conference afterparty above? The day before, we leveraged Live Feed as the centerpiece of our trade show booth. We played videos of our products between sets of photos using the ads feature.

Large LED wall at the Photo Booth Expo

Live Feed can be the life of the party and a functional tool for your business! Here are some ways you could use ads:

  • Display your logo to reinforce your brand
  • Promote drink specials for restaurant marketing
  • Offer a sponsorship package that includes a Live Feed ad
  • Highlight all of your event sponsors with a slide of logos
  • Callout the hashtag that you use on social media to encourage sharing
  • Pump up the crowd with an awesome video

When it comes to promotion, ads in Live Feed are just the beginning. If you’re looking to grow and expand your business through photos and word-of-mouth marketing, Simple Booth has you covered.

Embed Live Feed on your website

Even if you don’t have a TV, LED wall, or projector to play Live Feed on, you can put it on your website, like this:

Example of the HTML code to generate the embedded widget above:

<iframe style="width: 100%; max-width: 100%; height: 720px;" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" src="https://www.simplebooth.com/live-feed/k6A47UoVUYA3?hideControls=true"></iframe>

Now we’re really showing off, but only because we want you to be able to show off all your great photos with Live Feed ✌

Share directly to apps on your Android phone from the web browser.

Because Rebound is 100% native video, it’s the perfect format to take advantage of TikTok and the surge in popularity of video on Instagram and Reels.

Simple Booth participants are going to love Rebound just as much as we’re going to enjoy seeing all the inventive Rebound videos they’ll be posting to social media.

We’ve even added a cutting edge way for Android users to share Rebound videos or images directly from the Gallery in their web browser to Instagram or TikTok.

When a viewer taps the Instagram share button, it now pulls up the Android share sheet for fast and direct sharing. Plus, this intent to share is tracked in your Analytics dashboard.

This awesome new sharing functionality is expected to become available on iPhones within the next year.

Try it hands-free

We understand that COVID-19 has limited live events and how photo booth experiences can be provided. That’s why we also launched a new touchless photo booth mode so that, when appropriate, participants can still enjoy a safe selfie experience.

Whether you’re using HALO now or planning ahead, it’s time to see what Rebound is all about. Head to the App Store and update your Simple Booth HALO app to get started.

Introducing the gesture-based photo experience

It’s all the photo booth fun without ever touching a screen! You can use intuitive gestures to start a countdown, keep or retake your photo, and then simply scan a QR code to get it on your phone.

Here’s how it works.

Step 1: Hold your hand up to take a picture

The app will display a start screen that guides users to use their hand to start the booth. HALO watches for the hand position using the camera. The first gesture will start the photo booth countdown.

Step 2: Keep or retake

When you preview your photo, you can hold your hand up to choose whether or not to keep it or discard it and take another.

Step 3: Get the photo on your phone

Simply point your iPhone or Android camera app at the QR code on the screen and you’ll be prompted to open the web page with your photo on it. It’s that easy!

QR code sharing is available for free to all users during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s a closer look at what participants will see on their smartphone.

Just scan the QR to download the image.

From there, you can download or share the photo directly on social media. Voilà! A hands-free photo booth experience that’s intuitive and fun to use.

Step 4: Rinse & repeat

Users can indicate they are done with a final hand gesture, or the booth will close and be automatically ready for the next user after some time has passed.

How to enable touchless mode

The contactless photo booth feature is the default setting for all new presets created in 2020–2021.

You can also enable touchless mode on existing presets by logging into your Simple Booth dashboard and turning on the switch for touchless at the top of the preset page.

Touchless option at the top of the preset settings

This feature is currently only available on iOS 14 and above.

Using touchless mode will make a number of other features unavailable:

  • Start screen images
  • Rear-facing camera
  • Age Gate
  • Participant Photo Editing (filters, props, drawing, crop mode, etc.)
  • Data Capture
  • All sharing methods except QR

Users on iOS 13 have access to a similar touchless feature relying on voice commands
